  • If you would like to have allergy testing done at your initial visit, you should stop taking medications that can suppress test results such as antihistamines like Benadryl (diphenhydramine) Claritin (loratidine) Allegra (fexofenadine) Zyrtec (cetirizine) and many over-the-counter cough and cold remedies that contain antihistamines.
  • You do not need to hold or stop taking your asthma inhalers or nasal steroids sprays such as fluticasone/ Flonase or Singulair/ montelukast.
  • Do not stop any medications if you feel that you will develop severe hives or swelling without them.
